A line array is a speaker system designed for large concerts, events and shows where it is necessary to cover large areas with uniform sound.

How it works

It consists of identical speaker modules placed one below the other in a vertical line (hence the name).

The way they are aligned allows the sound waves to combine and be projected in a more directional and controlled manner than with individual speakers.

They are hung or mounted on truss structures, usually above or to the sides of the stage.

Advantages

Uniform coverage: the sound reaches the front and back of the audience with almost the same intensity.

Less interference: reduces volume loss with distance, compared to traditional speakers.

Scalability: few or many units can be used, depending on the size of the event.

Uses

Concerts in stadiums or amphitheaters.

Outdoor festivals.

Massive corporate events.

Large-format theatrical productions.

🔊 In summary: a line array is the professional standard for live sound because it guarantees power, clarity, and coverage for large audiences.
